Coach Killer, my Final Four, Bulls and Bears

I wanted to thank everyone who read my latest blog posting. It set a daily views record for a non wrestling post. I also wanted to thank those who are helping promote the blog via facebook and twitter, or just by word of mouth.

Some Knicks fans are happy while others who see the big picture say the wrong guy is gone. Mike D'Antoni and the Knicks, according to Jim Dolan mutually agreed to part ways. Now you can create any scenario as to what really happened behind closed doors, especially after Carmelo Anthony was rumored to have demanded a trade. Albeit he denied such reports I'm inclined to believe he could see that he just didn't work in the D'Antoni's system and called the Knicks bluff. Was D'Antoni forced out or did he really resign as was reported? Perhaps the truth will come out but for now we can only draw our own conclusions.

The biggest problem and why the Knicks come across as clueless is, they hired D'Antoni and knew what system he ran. D'Antoni inherited a garbage situation. Attendance dropped. Jim Dolan then pulled the trigger on a lot of young, good talent for the superstar. That's all Dolan thought about here; His pockets and thinking the superstar would win no matter what. No thought went into whether or not Carmelo Anthony's game would fit Mike D'Antoni's system. The Knicks could've made other trades. I remember Knicks' fans being happy rooting for Gallinari, Felton, Chandler (Wilson) etc. For the most part they were competitive and only getting better; they also played the game the right way and with little ego.

Obviously Mike Woodson will only be exactly what his title is now, an interim coach. He is not the long-term answer. The question is, who? Phil Jackson? My issue is no matter who you bring in here will that change the fact that the 'star' player only wants to play his way? The guy only wants to win if he's the guy making it happen. I think you can bring anyone in to coach him and that coach will have to conform to the star player not the other way around. Essentially the Knicks should hire whoever Melo wants so they don't have to go through another fiasco.

It really is a joke that a player who has won nothing on this level gets to dictate how a team operates. I hope he cherishes that National Championship ring he won at Syracuse, because I have a strong feeling that he's never winning anything in the NBA. By the way it was high level comedy watching the Knicks celebrate against the Blazers during a timeout like they won a playoff round. The Blazers have been on a free fall just as bad as the Knicks. Don't be a fool and think a 42 point victory over a bad team is going to change everything. Enjoy your cancer and coach killer.

I finally completed my brackets. My final four is Kentucky, Missouri, Florida State and North Carolina. I have VCU winning two games before losing to Kentucky. I have Harvard winning two games before losing to Syracuse. I also have a sweet 16 matchup of St Mary's vs. Belmont. Nobody knows what upsets will happen and playing it safe is easy. I didn't pick this in my brackets but I am concerned that Davidson could surprise Louisville.

No Derrick Rose and the Bulls pulled off what I considered to be the impossible by beating the heat. I honestly thought with the Heat losing the night before after blowing a lead in Orlando, that they'd come out angry and just step on the Bulls throats. The Bulls rose to the occasion and had a great effort from an unlikely source in John lucas III. The guy made every clutch shot and even hit a fade away over LeBron in the 4th quarter. Just a total complete team effort.

And Wade and James combined for 71 of the Heat's 102 points. The surprising thing was how bad their defense was. The Bulls also dominated on the glass and shut everyone else down. I'm a very proud and excited fan right now. Obviously the goal coming into this year was to get back to the eastern conference finals but this time win it. Anything else but a Finals appearance will be disappointing.

After the way last year's Bears' season ended via injuries, I was left feeling defeated as a fan. It was an awful feeling as a fan watching your team win 5 straight games and then have the season end when two of your best players don't finish the season. Tuesday's news of acquiring WR Brandon Marshall from the Dolphins for two third round picks just made me excited again and I now look forward to the upcoming season.

The Bears can now address other issues with the remaining draft picks and hopefully still make other moves via free agency. Clearly the Bears need to get a stud on the line to protect Cutler. And while Peppers, Urlacher and Briggs have been great in leading the defense, the problem is they are now all over 30 and the Bears need to get younger via the draft and free agency.

And as long as Marshall catches the football and gets into the endzone, I'm not too concerned with his off the field issues. I still would like to know what that woman did to deserve being punched in the face.
